09 - Step-by-Step: Paracore Sentinels

Practice deploying and managing background BIM watchdogs.

1. Pre-Flight Check​

  1. Select a Sentinel script (e.g., a "Room Name Case Checker") in the Gallery.
  2. Adjust the parameters in the UI.
  3. Click Run manually to verify the output in the Console.

2. Deploy Background Sentinel​

  1. Open the Sidebar, click the Settings (Gear), and go to the Sentinels tab.
  2. Click the Deploy toggle for your script. Notice the "Snapshot Mechanism" locks in the current values.

3. Test Background Reaction​

  1. Switch to Revit and perform an action that violates the Sentinel's rules.
  2. Observe the notification or the Sentinel Control Window.

4. Independent Updates​

  1. Go back to the Gallery and change the script parameters.
  2. Click Run manually and notice the output differs from the background Sentinel.
  3. To update the background watchdog, Undeploy and then Re-deploy.

5. Lifecycle Management​

  1. Close Paracore and notice the Sentinels undeploy (Resource Protection).
  2. Reopen Paracore and use the Deploy All button in Sentinel Settings to restore your watchdogs.
